Belden to demonstrate HD leadership at IBC

The main emphasis will be on cables for both studio and field use, as well as cables for use in permanent installations.

Key innovations and features include:

• The Belden Commercial Audio Range for the public A/V and live performance marketplace. The range is highly cost-effective, yet delivers the traditional Belden professional quality and high performance. Most cables have been developed with halogen-free (HF) design according to IEC 332-1 standards and all are based on an oxygen-free copper conductor, improving the quality of the signals and enabling the range to deliver the best audio performance.

• The fiber camera solution by Belden includes their SMPTE311 and TAC fiber cables with integrated SHED and HDX active components from Telecast Fiber Systems. This newest Belden brand meets the continued need for mixed copper and fiber solutions and growing bandwidth demands in ‘live entertainment’ applications. Through lighter cable runs, expanded camera performance and faster deployment Telecast Fiber System's combined copper-to-fiber architecture makes it easy and cost-effective to deliver maximum performance in broadcast and motion picture applications. Telecast Fiber System’s RATTLER 3G devices are used for 3Gbps HD/SDI video transport links.

Key innovations and features include:

• Belden’s latest Hybrid fiber SMPTE311 HD camera assembly is a cost-effective SMPTE311 HD Camera Assembly that supports 720p, 1080i and 1080p. It was designed specifically for high definition (HD) fibered broadcast cameras and is ideal for Studio and Field Camera Applications, requiring multiplex audio and video signals and power. Adding range to reliability, these new Belden HD Camera Assemblies enable transmission distances of up to 4,000 meters.

• Recently introduced HDMI cables for HD audio and video, used by home theater installers, include 26 AWG shielded twisted pair HDMI cables in lengths of 1, 2, 3, 4, and 7 meters.

• Belden Tactical Fiber cable has been significantly upgraded and improved by Belden for broadcast quality. It is primarily used for long haul high definition (HD) transmissions from mobile trucks and offers an ideal solution for applications that require multiple or redundant channels of Cat5e cables in remote production or staging applications.

• The Heat-resistant Hybrid Fiber Cable for HDTV Cameras is available as mobile cable for use in the studio or in the field as well as static cable for use in permanent installations. Its three versions have flexible black jackets in either halogen-free, PUR or PVC and all feature heat-resistant PE insulation.

• Belden’s expanded line of unshielded FRNC speaker cables is halogen-free but still flexible. The Brilliance® line consists of 1.5mm2, 2.5mm2 and 4.0mm2 constructions. An expanded line of FRNC OFHC premium construction speaker cables is made with oxygen-free copper for exceptional clarity of sound.

• Belden has extended their highly popular CATV range with an easy-to-install bundle of CATV Multicore Cable for Multi Switch Systems. This has the very common European video coaxial dimension of 0.8/3.5 and provides optimum signal transmission performance for MATV/SMATV in 3x0.8/3.5, 5x0.8/3.5 and 9x0.8/3.5 versions.

• Belden’s new shielded design of the well-known NanoSkew™ Brilliance® VideoTwist™ in S/FTP design is now available for Digital Signage applications.

• With the increase in high definition video applications, such as 1080i/p and 720p, bandwidth demands on camera cables has grown significantly. Belden CA00270 Brilliance Assemblies™ SMPTE 311M HDTV represent the new generation, heat resistant 7804E range. They consist of dual single-mode fiber optic cables and copper components for power and data and use a special connector made by Lemo 3K.93C or ADC ProAx™ or Neutrik’s Opticalcon®.

• Halogen-free cable developments include Halogen-free VideoFlex® Snake Cable, Halogen-free Mini High Resolution S-Video Cable (1855AN2), Halogen-free 179DT
