Redundancy within a wind park

In order to guarantee the maximum safety and uptime of a wind park, all wind turbines require regular maintenance. To ensure maximum availability of the system, the data communication system for surveillance and control is connected in a redundant ring structure with fiber optical cables and industrial grade ethernet switches.

For safety reasons the communication within a wind turbine must be stopped during on-site servicing.

To enable seamless and redundant operation during maintenance, the switch must be able to stop the communication within the turbine yet continue the transmission of data within the park.
